Showcasing a Variety of Tuscarora Reclaimed Wood Products from Our Home

Being a millshop owner means our home can become a testing ground for the various type of custom reclaimed wood products we look to build. Our goal is to perfect these products here in our home so that you receive the highest quality reclaimed wood materials and custom products for your home. So, we invite to step into our home as we highlight the various materials used and products we’ve created over the years – let’s go!

As you approach our home a little rustic flair pops out with White Oak circle sawn porch beams. These beams have a darker stain to provide a pleasant contrast against the monochromatic house siding and stone base.

Once inside our home you’re greeted by reclaimed White Oak flooring that covers the entire floor. This flooring was installed when we built our home several years ago and even with everyday wear-and-tear the floor still looks as good as the day it was installed. The durability of this flooring is due in part to the oil finish used on our reclaimed wood products. We also have a custom sliding barnwood door to the left adding a little barnwood country to our coat closet. Step in a further and we have White Oak box beams set both vertically and on the ceiling. Solid White Oak beams are used for the posts supporting the reclaimed wood handrail along the stairs going to the basement.

Turning to the opposite wall we have a whitewashed shiplap faux fireplace with a raw White Oak mantel. This faux fireplace doubles as an entertainment center with hidden TV and electronic storage. Flanking the sides of the faux fireplace are raw White Oak floating shelves, named such because there are no visible brackets or supports for the shelving.

This faux fireplace is a completely custom design and installation. You can read about this project in more detail on our previous post – Reclaimed DIY Ideas from Tuscarora. We’d love to hear about your ideas and how we can help make your reclaimed wood project ideas a reality! Contact us for more information.

As we move to the kitchen we have a wide variety of reclaimed wood applications. The island countertop is made of reclaimed Maple and has a custom White Oak box beam directly above with hanging pendant lights. The backsplash is whitewashed reclaimed wood cut and installed just like tile creating a modern yet rustic style. We also have a raw White Oak plank shelf supported with custom metal brackets. But, our favorite product in the room is the custom White Oak farm table with sculpted solid beam pedestal legs. This table is a beast weighing nearly 400 lbs. You can read more about the custom table build and see behind-the-scenes photos on our news post – A Christmas Surprise!

Finally, we move into some of the smaller rooms not typically seen, each with custom reclaimed wood products. The bathroom includes White Oak bathroom cabinets and a raw White Oak plank for laundry bags. The laundry room has whitewashed shiplap walls to create a soft, bright environment for those mundane chores. And, one of the bedrooms has a mixed hardwood shiplap wall creating an warm focal point.
